You can help feed our animals at this difficult time by adopting our Sumatran tigers

    Adopt today

Can you feed the animals you love during lockdown?

A message from Andrew, our tiger keeper:

“Lucu is our new male Sumatran tiger. He is settling in really well and you’re most likely to see him in the morning or afternoon. It’s a special moment when you see handsome Lucu up close in person or on our cameras – and you can help him at this difficult time by giving a donation.

Sumatran tigers usually live alone in the wild and are quite shy, so don’t worry if you can’t see him. He’s most likely exploring in the long grass or having a snooze! “If he could, we’re sure even Lucu would like to say a huge tiger-sized thank you to everyone who has and continues to donate. Giving a tiger their tea is an amazing gift!"

It’s impossible to overstate the impact of the Covid-19 closures on Edinburgh Zoo. Being closed cuts off 90% of the funds needed by our dedicated keepers and vets to care for thousands of animals. If you can, please consider a donation to support our survival fund.

£50 could feed Lucu or Dharma for a week. Please help our animals like Lucu by giving an online donation today. Or you can donate by text.

Simply text ZOO plus the amount you’d like to donate to 70085 (e.g. ZOO5 to donate £5)*.

Yes I can help!

The science behind the tiger who came to tea!

Did you know our conservation team are using DNA from tiger poo to help protect tigers in Nepal? Tigers are the biggest cats on the planet, but also one of the most threatened. In this episode of #RZSSGoesWild, find out why it's important for us to understand what's on the menu for wild tigers in Nepal, how DNA from poo can help us do this, and how the tigers at our zoos helped us to refine our tiger poo detective skills.  Why not catch up on all episodes of #RZSSGoneWild and find out about the wider work of RZSS?
