New chimp joins the troop at Edinburgh Zoo

Edinburgh Zoo has welcomed a new member to its chimpanzee troop. Babsie, an Eastern chimpanzee, joins the zoo from AAP Animal Advocacy and Protection in the Netherlands, who previously rescued her from a circus when she was young.

The newcomer has already impressed staff at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), the wildlife conservation charity, by settling in well with some of the female chimpanzees. Introductions to the rest of the chimps continue, gradually and at her own pace.

Visitors looking to see Babsie and the rest of the troop can book tickets online and save.
