Edinburgh Zoo’s adorable baby capybara who was born earlier this month, has had his first health check with vets confirming the bonnie bara bairn is a boy. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) is now inviting the public to help choose the wee one’s name.

Fans can vote for one of four distinctly Scottish-inspired names: Bru, Tunnock, Toddy or Tablet. The names were chosen after the wildlife conservation charity’s keepers and internet users alike noticed the youngster’s undeniable Scottish charm.

People can cast their votes on Edinburgh Zoo’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Voting is now open and closes on the evening of Wednesday 3 June, with the winning name due to be announced the following day (Thursday 4 June).
