Colinton school children stood around blank wee giraffe about town sculpture

This week the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) began delivering their Wee Herd of blank four-foot-tall giraffe sculptures to city schools as part of Edinburgh Zoo’s Giraffe About Town school programme, sponsored by Essential Edinburgh.

As part of the public art trail coming to the capital’s streets this summer, the Wee Herd of over twenty giraffes will form a mini trail in Essential Edinburgh stores and locations, with each sculpture designed and decorated by local school pupils.

The digital school programme will be available for free online, teaching the next generation the importance of wildlife conservation in Scotland and around the world, inspiring children to connect with nature and protect threatened species.

Sculptures are due to hit the streets from Friday 1 July. For more information, please visit giraffeabouttown.org.uk.
