How do I book a date?

We recommend securing a date with us before purchasing any vouchers online. Please email with dates of preference for your experience and we can look into availability. We can arrange payment after confirming the date is available. Please note that some of our experiences are extremely popular and can be booked up for months in advance.

· Name of experience looking to book
· 3 dates/week of interest in order of preference for your experience
· Name of participant(s)
· Date(s) of birth
· Do they have any allergies, phobias or additional support needs that we would need to be aware of for the day?
· Contact number
· Voucher number(s) (if applicable)


Which animals are involved in the Full Day, Half Day and Junior Keeper Experiences?

The Full Day and Half Day usually involve armadillos, penguins and chimps. Our Junior Keeper Experiences usually involve penguins, meerkats and armadillos. Please note, that we are unable to guarantee any specific animals on the day of your experience due to animal welfare issues.


Do any of the Edinburgh Zoo Experiences involve the pandas or the koalas?

None of our experiences involve our koalas or pandas, we’re sorry for any disappointment this causes.


How many people can be booked in for an experience?

We are able to book in a maximum of two people per experience (apart from our Close Encounter Magic Moment, we can book in eight participants). All Keeper Experience vouchers are per person (with the exception of our 6–11 Giraffe Magic Moment in which the voucher covers the cost of both one child and one adult participant).


Will I still be able to redeem my voucher if I wasn't able to book a date due to COVID-19 restrictions and now my voucher has expired?

If your voucher was affected by COVID-19 restrictions in 2020/2021, your expiry date on your voucher will now not expire. Please contact to enquire about expiry dates and booking in your experience.


Do I have to pay entry to the zoo?

No, your keeper experience voucher covers your entry to the zoo. However, anyone accompanying you will need to pay entry (unless they are a member or have a voucher). Entry tickets will need to be purchased online in advance. If your experience begins before 10am, only the accompanying adult (for those under 16) can enter the zoo. For those over 16, only the participant can enter before 10am

For our Junior and Mini Keeper Experiences one accompanying adult admission is included in the price.

All of our experiences also include free car parking and a 10% discount in our Gift Shop. Please note that car parking spaces are limited, especially during busier times of the year


Can I bring anyone with me when I’m doing my experience?

Yes, please bring loved ones along to experience your day with you. They won’t be able to go into enclosures with you but they can see you from the public viewing areas and take lots of pictures. They will need to book their tickets online in advance. Click here to book tickets online.


I’m a member, do I get a discount?

Yes, our members are entitled to a 10% discount. Please email to enquire about the discount code.


Will my experience be cancelled if the weather’s bad?

Our experiences go ahead in all kinds of weather. Just make sure you wear layers and we’re sure you’ll have a great time. Occasionally we shut down the zoo due to really bad winds, this is very rare but if it happens we can rebook your experience for another suitable date.
