Edinburgh Zoo has two restaurants, one café and several kiosks offering a wide range of hot and cold food, snacks and drinks. Whatever you fancy, there’s something to suit all tastes!
We offer excellent value and service as part of a great day out for the family. Each of our restaurants and cafés have dedicated allergen folders, which detail the allergens of each menu item in that particular outlet. Food prepared onsite may contain milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts. We recommend speaking to a member of our staff before ordering who can help suggest the best dishes or alternative options to suit your needs. Take a peek at our allergen alternatives!

The Gannet
Stop by to enjoy delicious Scottish fish and chip dishes, from vegan haggis to fish cakes, available to sit-in and takeaway. The Gannet uses high quality, locally sourced ingredients and offers the country's only 'fully Scottish' chip – grown within 50 miles of Edinburgh, chipped in Dunfermline and cooked fresh here at the zoo.

Grasslands Restaurant is our main catering outlet and is located by the Mansion House at the heart of the zoo. The restaurant is table service and offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for families, couples or solo visitors.

Penguins Café
Penguins Café overlooks the world-famous Penguins Rock and has spectacular views of the Pentland Hills from its outdoor decking area. The café serves a selection of breakfast rolls, ciabattas, salads and soup of the day. For the kids there are babycinos, hot chocolate and Penguins Lunch Bags.

Feeling peckish, but don’t need a full meal? Look out for snack kiosks dotted around the zoo. We’ve also provided benches and picnic areas to allow you to sip and snack on bits you've brought from home. Our main picnic areas are located at the hilltop, around the main lawn and inside Lemur Lodge – for those wet weather days!
