These terms and conditions specifically relate to Edinburgh Zoo's Giant Lanterns event.
We hope that you have a great night out with us. In order for you to make the most of your time at the event and in the interests of safety we would like to advise you of the following.
As a wildlife conservation charity, events like Edinburgh Zoo's Giant Lanterns allow us to engage visitors with wildlife in a fun, memorable way, while supporting our ongoing conservation efforts. This immersive experience helps connect people with nature and raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats from coral reefs to sea birds and everything in between. Your visit helps support the zoo’s vital wildlife conservation work in Scotland and around the world.

- Normal zoo entry terms and conditions apply
- From time to time, RZSS and third parties to whom we have provided authority may take photographs and/or video recordings of the zoo premises, including the car parks and surrounding areas, as well as events, which may feature visitors. By purchasing a ticket to the event, you are accepting these terms, and you agree that RZSS or any authorised third-party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional or publicity material in any format. You further agree that all copyright and any other intellectual property rights that subsist in or arise out of these materials shall be absolutely owned by RZSS, or such authorised third-party subject to our agreement
- Tickets are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and non-transferable. No refunds or exchanges will be issued for event bookings should you no longer be able to attend. This also applies to VIP package tickets
- Tickets can be given to friends or family if you are no longer able to attend. Ticket purchasers do not need to be the named person on the booking
- Tickets purchased through third-party sellers, such as Get Your Guide, are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by RZSS
- RZSS Edinburgh Zoo will only cancel an event if it were deemed unsafe to attendees, for example in high winds or extreme conditions. If RZSS decides to cancel the event, attendees will be notified, by the email used when booking, with as much notice as possible with further information. Attendees will be able to re-book another date subject to availability or obtain a refund at the discretion of the RZSS events team. It is the responsibility of the attendees to check their emails before arriving at the event to check for any updates and to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets. Updates will also be shared on our website and social media sites
- Edinburgh Zoo’s Giant Lanterns admission tickets do not include entry to the zoo during daytime operating hours. If you’d like to visit the zoo, you can purchase a reduced-price ticket for the same date as your event visit. Please note, you will need to present your event ticket on arrival to receive the discount. The zoo will close at 4pm and you will be required to leave and re-enter for the event at 4:45pm
- Carers receive free admission to this event, but they must provide proof on arrival. A maximum of one carer is permitted to enter Edinburgh Zoo free of charge when accompanying someone who requires assistance
- The event ends at 9pm. Should you wish to spend longer than one hour at the event, please book an earlier timeslot
- Guests are not permitted to bring their own food or drink onto the premises, except where they have specific dietary requirements. Please email info@rzss.org.uk for more information
- Edinburgh Zoo reserves the right to change or update event timings and content up to and on the day of the event
- In addition to the ticket price, a booking fee and processing fee applies. Tickets are booked through the Edinburgh Zoo’s website in partnership with Ticket Tailor. Tickets are electronic only and there is no option to post printed tickets. To purchase tickets, you must have a valid and current email address
- It is the responsibility of the attendees to make sure email addresses are correctly entered when booking tickets. Mistakes may not be able to be corrected if changes are requested within seven days of the event taking place
- All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult
- Members must show valid proof of membership to gain entry with a discounted member ticket. Failure to show a valid membership card may result in additional charges
- Member guest discounts are not available for this event
- Ticket buyers will be given an opportunity to opt in and receive RZSS emails. If you choose to subscribe to our updates, your email address will be added to our mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of each email or by contacting data@rzss.org.uk
