Panda Watch

When Tian Tian and Yang Guang arrived in December 2011, they officially became the first giant pandas to live in the UK for 17 years.

Giant panda viewing information:

Indoor viewing for our giant pandas is closed as it is a sensitive time in the breeding season. Tian Tian and Yang Guang both have access outside and outdoor viewing remains fully open.

Please be aware indoor and outdoor viewing for any of our animals may be closed at short notice for health checks and welfare reasons.

Panda information

Giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) live in the mountain forests of the central Chinese provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu. Ninety-nine per cent of a Giant panda’s diet consists of different types of bamboo. Pandas will also eat eggs, meat, grasses and vegetables if these are available.
