Monthly Guide: September
September is great month to be visiting us here at Edinburgh Zoo, we have some exciting new facilities in the park as well as new animals arrivals and events. Please find below our guide to some of this months highlights:
Brilliant Birds, Reptiles and AmphibiansOur newest exhibit is getting a brilliant bonus this month with the addition of reptiles, invertebrates and amphibians. The collection will include yellow footed tortoise, blue poison arrow frog, phantasmal poison frogs, stick insects, leaf cutter ants and sun beetles. Brilliant birds is a walkthrough aviary showcasing rare and exotic species from around the world, including the Bali Starling, Violet Turaco and Nicobar pigeon. So visitors can learn more about the various birds there will be a daily talk at 3.30pm. Find out more here. |

New BornsSeptember gives our visitors an opportunity to see some many young animals and new arrivals at the Zoo. We have just had a new L'hoest Monkey born (pictured) along with three Cochin-Chinese Red Jungle Fowl chicks. This years penguins chicks are leaving their creche to join the adults and we have baby Rock Hyrax darting around their rocky caves. |

Living Links Lecture SeriesThe Living Links Centre at Edinburgh Zoo is running a Lecture series on the 'Living Links to Human Health, Mind and Medicine'. This series of five talks focuses on the idea that this evolutionary perspective has increasingly illuminated the subjects of health and medicine, ranging from studies of self-medication in our non-human primate relatives in the wild, to the new science of Evolutionary or ‘Darwinian’ Medicine. |

New Facilites - Eateries, Entrance and Gift Shop!If you've not been to visit us recently then you'll have missed the fantastic upgrades to many of our facilities here at Edinburgh Zoo. We have redeveloped our two main eateries - Grasslands and Jungle Food Court. We have a beautiful new front entrance to welcome you, and a new gift shop, selling everything from Zoo-veneirs to fair trade products. |
