Monthly Guide: February

Edinburgh Zoo is a facinating place to visit this February. Come along to meet some new faces, enjoy a delicious lunch and chill with our penguins. Please find below our guide to some of this month's highlights:

New Borns and new arrivals

This month is all about the female of the species. With the arrival of a new famale jaguar call Rica, from a Krefeld Zoo, Germany. she is now on show at the big cat walkway, although she has been a little shy.

Two dwarf mongoose females have also arrived and are on show in the pygmy hippo house, not to mention the birth of a female chevrotain and heck cattle at the hilltop.

Up and Coming Events 

This half term we have a variety of events to keep the kids occupied.

With valentine card making, Honey Pot Ceramic workshop, Imagination Workshop providing paint a panda workshops.

Plus 'Messy Play' sessions for younger children on Friday 10 and Friday 17 February

Eco Fair  

Half term also plays host to our Eco Fair, from  Mon 13 Feb - Sun 19 Feb.

You can make a zoo animal out of recycled materials, build a bird feeder to take home, and find out how you can do your bit to help save our environment. With workshops and information provided by the Marine Stewardship Council, Energy Saving Scotland and Forest Stewardship Council.

Vet Talk

Join our Head Veterinary Surgeon, Simon Girling on Thursday 16 February as he takes a closer look at the vital role his team plays with the welfare of our animals.
