Monthly Guide: January

Edinburgh Zoo is a winter wonderland this January. Come along to meet some new faces, enjoy a lush winter lunch and chill with our penguins. Please find below our guide to some of this month's highlights:

 Giant Pandas

Tian Tian and Yang Guang are settling in well to their new home and have proved very popular over the festive season.

There is no additional charge to see the pandas however visitors will need to select a time slot. So to avoid disappointment please pre-book your tickets now!

Can't get to the zoo, then not check out our new panda cam where you can enjoy watching Yang Guang. The best time to view is between 11am and 3pm.

Chinese New Year 

We will be celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Dragon with a variety of events such asChinese crafts, calligraphy workshops and more on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January 2012.

New Borns and new arrivals

A new year and already some new arrivals. 

On Hogmanay, 31 December our pygmy hippo pair gave birth to a beautiful daughter called Eve. She can be seen snuggling up to mum, Ellen in the pygmy hippo house.

Don't miss our other new arrivals such as the guinea baboon, lesser kudu and Hamlyn monkey.

Warm up with the koalas 

Feeling cold then why not stop by our heated Australian exhibit to warm yourself up.

Here you can enjoy the walk through avairy where you can see the world largest pigeon, the Victoria crowned pigeon, the eclectus parrot and many more beautiful birds before paying visit to the UK's only koalas, Goonaroo and Yabbra.

Annual Zoo Review

Join our animal keepers on Thursday 26 January 2012 at 7pm in our Education Centre for our annual zoo review. They will be taking a look back over the highs and lows of 2011, including arrival of the Giant Pandas.
