We are open every day of the year, including Christmas Day, from 9am until:

How you can help
The natural world needs our help...and we need yours! Please consider making a donation to support our conservation, education and research work, both within our parks and across the world.
Picnic Areas
Whatever the weather it is fun to eat outdoors, and we’ve provided lots of benches and picnic areas to allow you to do just that. Benches are situated throughout the Zoo, and our two main picnic areas are:

at the hilltop, located near the children’s play area

on the lawn in front of the Mansion House
If you don’t have time to prepare your own picnic you can pick up sandwiches, fruit, juice and other snacks in either of our two restaurants – Oasis or Stripes. Our kiosks also offer a selection of snacks, hot and cold drinks.
Please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided, otherwise it encourages unwelcome visitors like seagulls and grey squirrels. Edinburgh Zoo also has special bins for recycling plastic bottles so please use these to help save the environment.
