Gift Aid
Gift Aid provides a real opportunity for you to increase the value of your donation and eligible membership fees to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
If you pay UK income tax the Society can reclaim tax on every donation you make, whatever the amount. This means that for every £1.00 donated we receive up to 28p from HMRC . As a result you can increase your donation and it won’t cost you a penny more.
For example:
£40 is worth £51.28
£100 is worth £128.20
Subject to a few simple rules, you can give any amount of money, large or small, regular or one-off, and we can reclaim the tax. All you need is to fill in a simple declaration form saying that you want to use Gift Aid. A declaration can cover one or more donations and it can be made in writing, on-line, by email or orally. It can also be backdated to cover all donations made in the last six years.

Notes on Gift Aid:
- You can cancel your declaration at any time simply notifying RZSS.
- If your circumstances change and you no longer pay enough income or capital gains tax to cover the amount claimed by the charity, you can cancel your declaration.
- Please notify RZSS if you change your name or address.
- You must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that the RZSS reclaims on your donation in the tax year (currently 25p for every £1.00 you give).
- HMRC will also be operating transitional provisions for Gift Aid donations made from 6 April 2008 until 5 April 2011, paying a Government supplement of 3p on every pond you give.
