RZSS Edinburgh Zoo is delighted to launch a brand new and exclusive retail range from award-winning Scottish artist, Clare Brownlow, featuring some of RZSS Edinburgh Zoo’s most famous residents.

Clare Brownlow has created her own unique style of painting using pheasant feathers and ink to create many different animal paintings and designs. This modern twist on painting gives each image a vibrant and colorful feel that creates beautiful designs which will be featured on a number of new retail products at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo.

To celebrate the launch of this exclusive range, Clare Brownlow will be at the Zoo on Saturday 22 October to run mini-workshops on the techniques used in pheasant feather art, teaching people how to create their own masterpieces using a pheasant feather. There will be a competition with a range of exclusive prizes to be won, as well as the launch of the new retail range including mugs, prints, bags, notebooks and more. The event will be held at the eco cabin in the Zoo (near to the members’ gate) from 10.30am – 2.30pm on Saturday 22 October and is free with Zoo entry.

Lindsay Jenner, Admissions and Retail Manager at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo, said: “We are delighted to be working with such a talented artist and introducing this unique collection of designs into our gift shop. We think visitors are going to love all of the new products featuring some of RZSS Edinburgh Zoo’s most famous animals and they will only be available to purchase exclusively from the Zoo.”

Clare Brownlow, said: “I have had such a great time working with RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and getting to know the many wonderful residents up close! I hope my paintings do them justice."

Clare Brownlow has a strong background in art, drawing and painting, starting at a young age. She became an Art Scholar at Uppingham and went on to study at Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art. Although specializing in atmospheric oil paintings, the idea for pheasant feather art came to her closer to home, at her parent’s kitchen table in Norfolk. Picking up a pheasant feather and ‘doodling’ with her father’s fountain pen inks, pheasant feather art was born. Most notably, Clare designed the front cover for the 25th Anniversary of the Scone Game Fair, won the competition for the design of the front cover of CLA game fair 2014 and was shortlisted for Wildlife Artist of the Year in 2014 and 2016.
