Zoo News

I love zoo, will you marry me?

27 January 2010 - With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, to celebrate soul mates, puppy dog love and all things romantic, Edinburgh Zoo is offering a free wedding worth over £4,500 to one lucky couple. To be in with the chance to get married in this beautiful location while gibbons sing, chimps chip in and lions roar all you need to do is enjoy some fine dining in the newly refurbished Mansion House restaurant on Sunday 14 February.

Edinburgh Zoo is a great date destination and has always been a favourite with couples. Since the Zoo became a venue for civil marriages, it has become one of the most quirky and unusual locations in Scotland to say “I do”. Last year alone the Zoo saw 38 couples tie the knot, and many surprising and innovative engagements also took place around the park.  One engagement even involved a resident of the Zoo, Dillon the armadillo, as he became ring bearer for the day. The plucky animal carried the ring to the prospective fiancée as the proposal took place!

Andrew Roberts, Commercial Manager at Edinburgh Zoo, said:

“Edinburgh Zoo is an incredibly romantic place, where couples come every day of the year to enjoy the park and see all the amazing animals. We wanted to highlight the romantic aspect of the Zoo by offering a Valentine’s Day dinner to remember. Giving away a wedding seems like the perfect way to celebrate true love! ”

Phone 0131 314 0336 to book a table for Valentine’s Day.  Enjoy a three course meal (see our special Valentine's Day menu) with a glass of prosecco for £30 per person and be in for the chance of winning a free wedding!  Get the details of the prize draw on our Promotions page.
