Library at the Mansion House, Edinburgh ZooIf you’re looking for somewhere really unusual, with elegant surroundings, delicious food and efficient service for your conference, business meeting, training course or special event, then the Mansion House at Edinburgh Zoo is the place for you!   

With fully equipped conference rooms and extensive catering facilities, the Mansion House offers you all you need to ensure your conference is a success.

The rooms in the Mansion House are ideal for up to 60 delegates, but we can also offer conference and presentation facilities for up to 200 delegates in our Education Centre, just one minute’s walk from the House.

Budongo Boardroom

Want a meeting with a difference? Something totally unique and inspiring, not found anywhere else in the UK and always a talking point with your staff?  Then why not share a meeting with the chimps in the Boardroom in Budongo at Edinburgh Zoo.

Education Centre

The Education Centre comprises an air-conditioned, fully equipped Lecture Theatre which sits 200 people.  With audio-visual facilities and a sound loop system for people with hearing difficulties, it is fully accessible and is flanked by a variety of smaller break-out rooms.  Reception facilities, accessible toilets and space for registration and cloakrooms are all available, and there are facilities for coffee, tea and light buffet meals. For more comprehensive catering, the Mansion House is recommended.

The Mansion House has a wide range of rooms, suitable for every occasion:

Gillespie Room

Gillespie Restaurant at the Mansion House, Edinburgh ZooThe oak-panelled Gillespie Room is situated on the ground floor of the Mansion House, facing south and offering superb views over the park to the Pentland Hills. Our restaurant has a well-established reputation for excellent food and delicious wines, served in elegant surroundings.  Crisp white linen and fresh flowers all contribute to a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. This is an ideal venue for a business lunch or dinner for clients, a retirement party or a birthday meal.  

The Geddes Room

The Geddes Room is situated on the ground floor of the House, which is adjacent to the Gillespie Room and is ideal for up to 50 people theatre style and up to 30 people u-shape, or simply as a spacious breakout room.  The Gillespie and Geddes Rooms can be joined together by the retraction of a sliding wooden screen, creating one very large L-shaped room.

Cocktail Bar

The Cocktail Bar is situated on the ground floor of the Mansion House which, along with the Geddes and Gillespie rooms, is suitable for wheelchair access. The bar area is perfect for pre-lunch refreshments. The  bar holds up to 40 people and opens (via steps) onto the Members’ Gardens, which is a beautiful venue for a summer event.

The Salvesen Room

The Salvesen Room offers conference facilities for up to 40 people theatre style and up to 25 u-shape, and can be fully equipped with TV, video, internet access, powerpoint, overhead and slide projectors, flip charts, screens and a lectern. The room has a unique view, overlooking the new otter enclosure river rapids to the north, and the gibbon enclosure to the east. It’s a very flexible room, and suitable for any event.

Macmillan Room

The Macmillan Room is a truly beautiful room, situated on the first floor of the Mansion House.  It’s wonderfully light and airy, decorated in shades of Wedgwood blue and grey, with intricate decorative plasterwork and breathtaking open views across the Zoo to the Pentland Hills. 

The Library

Our Library accommodates up to 20 people around its elegant boardroom table and overlooks the rhino enclosure!  The room is ideal for business meetings, conferences or an intimate celebratory meal.

Keith and Turret Rooms

For more informal meetings, you may prefer the Keith Room, a small coffee lounge overlooking the gardens, or perhaps the Turret Room, at the very top of the House which can take up to 12 people around its circular table.  Again, these rooms are ideal for informal business meetings and lunches, or a small celebratory meal.
