What does my ticket cost cover?
Your ticket gives you entry to the Zoo from 6pm to 10pm. You will be able to walk around the Zoo, plus you get the entertainment unique to the Zoo Nights events. Not included in the ticket price are food and drink, which are available to buy on the night. Additional charges apply for face painting, rides and stalls, and official photographs which are optional extras.
What is the RZSS Members code?
If you are a member of RZSS, you can get a discount on tickets by entering the members’ code. This code is available on the members’ portal, or you can get it by emailing [email protected]
Are group discounts available?
Yes. A 10% discount on tickets is available for groups of 10 people or more. Just select the group ticket option when booking.
What do the food & drink vouchers cover?
The food and drink vouchers are an additional £9 on the ticket price. This gives you one item of food to the value of six pounds (this will include items such as burgers, bratwurst, pies, sushi, pizza, and more) and either one beer (330ml), a glass of wine (175ml), an Edinburgh Gin and tonic (25ml measure) or any soft drink. The vouchers can be redeemed at any of the food and drink stalls at a Zoo Nights 2017 event. They are only valid for the date of your purchased ticket. Vouchers are non-refundable and non-transferable. No credit or cash will be given if the value of the food is less than six pounds.
I can no longer make the event, what can I do?
We’re sorry but tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you can no longer make the event, feel free to pass tickets onto a friend to use. It doesn’t matter if the name of the person who books is different from the name of the person who attends – as long as you have a valid ticket, it will be scanned on arrival to check the validity.
Can I bring food and drink with me?
Sorry, no external food or drink is allowed at the events and bag searches will be in operation. We have a huge variety of food and drink available to buy at the event or you can add on a food and drink voucher to your order by selecting the appropriate ticket type.
Will I see the pandas?
The Zoo Nights events fall in a crucial time in the panda breeding season. In order to minimise disruption, the pandas will NOT be on show on any of the four nights. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Which animals will I see?
Some animals will be more active than others in the evening so you may not see some of those who are early to bed. Please note that koalas will be closed, as will some of the walkthroughs. Some enclosures will close earlier than the event closing time. Please refer to the event map available on arrival for full details.
What should I wear?
Please bear in mind the Zoo is predominantly outdoors and on a steep hill. Please check the weather in advance of the event and please dress appropriately. Please do not wear onesies as the animals don’t like them!
What happens if it rains?
The event will go ahead if it rains. Make sure you check the weather forecast in advance and dress appropriately. The event would only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions, including high winds – in which case those who have purchased tickets will be contacted by email and a post will go out on the event Facebook page.
What provision is there for disabled access?
The Zoo is fully accessible for wheelchairs, but please note that we are situated on a steep hill. Wheelchairs are available to borrow from the Zoo. There will be a disabled access vehicle in operation at the events for use by visitors with mobility issues only. If you require this service, please contact a member of staff in the main reception on arrival and we will make the appropriate arrangements.
Disabled carers can come to the event for free – please contact [email protected] for a carer ticket.
I have luggage, where can I leave it?
We have a small number of lockers at the Zoo where you can leave bags. We don’t have facilities to take large suitcases.
When should I arrive and leave?
Doors will open at 6pm, with last entry at 8pm. We ask all visitors to please leave the zoo quietly by 10pm.
Are there cash machines on site?
No there are no cash machines on site. Some of the restaurants and kiosks take card payments, but please bring cash with you to avoid any disappointment.
