Appearance
Claus is a large, impressive male chimp and has quite a serious looking face which can make him seem quite imposing.

History & character
Arrived in Edinburgh Zoo in 2010 from Beekse-Bergen Safari Park in the Netherlands. Claus is the son of Eva and the brother of Edith. Claus looks imposing but is actually very gentle and keeps out of tense situations. He loves to lie down with his feet in the air!

Claus is the alpha male of the new group.  It remains to be seen how his claim for dominance will affect Qafzeh and Kindia's struggle for top spot when the two groups are merged.
