South America
South America is most famous in ecological terms for its vast, but disappearing Amazon rainforest. Many other fragile habitats are also found on this continent; Edinburgh Zoo holds species representing not just the rainforests, but also the grasslands, the mountains and the cold sub-antarctic islands of the South Atlantic.
