You can search for animals by continent of origin. These include:
You will find that many of our animals are found on only one continent; this is because animal species often evolve and adapt to a specific habitat types, and are not equiped to expand into other habitats. This often makes it impossible to travel from an area of suitable habitat on one continent to an area on another. Therefore, these 'specialist' animals are also much more vulnerable to changes in their habitat and more likely to become threatened.
Animals which can adapt to a range of habitats and areas are called 'generalists', and these are much more likely to be found across more than one continent.
