RZSS Management
Chief Executive – David Windmill

The Chief Executive is responsible under the Council of the Society for achievement of the business and charitable objectives of the Society. Through his Senior Management Team, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park within the framework of strategies and policies approved by the Council. He and his team and all the staff are responsible for designing, driving and delivering the Masterplan for Edinburgh Zoo to accomplish a 20-year development of the Society into the 21st century.
Head of Animals, Education & Conservation – Iain Valentine
Responsible for all animal welfare, management, enrichment & presentation activities, ex situ/in situ research & conservation, formal and informal education and interpretation, community and volunteer activities at Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park.
Head of Commercial Services - Tim Blow
Responsible for all commercial activities such as public restaurant and Mansion House catering, events, weddings and corporate hospitality, retail, visitor services including reception, car park, Hilltop Safari and customer complaints at Edinburgh Zoo. Responsible for operation and management of retail and visitor services at the Highland Wildlife Park. The role also involves overseeing marketing, external communications, public relations, publications and graphics.
Head of Development - Alan Horn
Responsible for all outward facing activities such as fundraising, business development, membership and sponsorship.
Head of Finance - Gareth Hill
Responsible for all financial accounting and management activities such as financial forecasting and accounts, VAT, corporate governance, risk assessment, payroll, insurance, pensions administration, ICT planning, delivery and IT support.
Head of Human Resources - Judith Auld
Responsible for all people-related activities such as organisational development, change management, employee development, internal communications, employee relations, policy development and HR systems.
Head of Property and Estates - Gary Wilson
Responsible for all property development and maintenance activities such as Masterplan development, project planning and delivery, gardens & horticulture, health & safety, phones/radio equipment, security.
