How Will We Contribute to the Conservation of Giant Pandas?
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland will pay an agreed annual sum to the Chinese Government for the loan of two giant pandas. This money will go directly towards giant panda conservation projects in the wild.
In addition to this, we will invest in dedicated research programmes within the Zoo. This research (the details of which are still to be finalised), will be conducted in conjunction with leading Scottish academic institutes. They will focus on specific threats to the giant panda population. This research will be shared with conservationists in China to help gain a better understanding of this enigmatic species and the steps we can take to ensure their survival in the wild.
